Check if the dustbag has been placed correctly. Never use the vacuum cleaner to suck up water or any other liquid. Never pick up ashes until they are cold. When the vacuum cleaner is used to suck up fine dust, the pores of the dustbag may become clogged, causing the passage of air through the dustbag to become obstructed.As a result, the dustbag-full indicator will indicate that the dustbag needs to be replaced, even though the dustbag is not full at all. Never use the appliance without the Motor Protection Filter.This could damage the motor and shorten the life of the appliance. Connecting accessories C To connect the hose to the appliance, push it into the appliance and turn it clockwise. To disconnect the hose from the appliance, turn it anticlockwise and pull it out of the appliance. Conical coupling C 1 To connect the tubes to the handgrip, insert the narrow section into the wider section while turning it clockwise.The tube with the clip is the lower tube. Use the same method to connect the accessories to the tube. 2 To disconnect, turn the tube or the accessories anticlockwise and pull. Telescopic tube (specific types only) C Adjust the tube to the length you find most comfortable during vacuum cleaning. ENGLISH 5 Convertible nozzle The convertible nozzle can be used on either carpets or hard floors. 1 Connect the convertible nozzle to the telescopic tube. Push the rocker switch on top of the convertible nozzle with your foot to make the brush strip for cleaning hard floors come out of the nozzle housing. Push the rocker switch again to make brush strip disappear into the convertible nozzle housing again. C C 2 3 Crevice nozzle, brush nozzle and small nozzle The crevice nozzle can be used either for cleaning narrow corners or hard-to-reach places. C 1 2 Lift the handle on the vacuum cleaner to gain access to the accessory storage compartment. Connect the crevice nozzle to the tube or directly to the handgrip. The brush nozzle can be used for cleaning computers, bookshelves etc. C 3 C 4 The small nozzle can be used for vacuum cleaning small areas, e.g. the seats of chairs and sofas. 6 ENGLISH Vacuum cleaning C 1 Pull the cord out of the appliance and put the mains plug in the wall socket. C 2 Switch the appliance on by pushing the on/off button on top of the appliance with your foot. C 3 To carry the appliance, put the handle in upright position and lift the appliance by the handle. Adjusting suction power You can adjust the suction power during vacuum cleaning: There are two ways to adjust the suction power, depending on which appliance you have. C C 1 Adjust the suction power by means of the slide on the handgrip. Adjust the suction power by means of the electronic suction power control (specific types only). 2 ENGLISH 7 Storage 1 2 Switch the appliance off. Remove the mains plug from the wall socket. Rewind the mains cord by pressing the cord rewind button. C C 3 4 Put the appliance in upright position and attach the lower tube to the appliance by means of the clip. The height of the clip can be adjusted by sliding it along the tube. Replacing the dustbag Replace the dustbag as soon as the "dustbag-full indicator" changes colour (when the nozzle is not placed on the floor). 1 Switch the appliance off.. Open the cover. C C 2 3 Push the dustbag holder backwards. C 4 Remove the full dustbag by pulling the cardboard tag. When you do this, the dustbag will be automatically sealed. 8 ENGLISH C 5 Slide the cardboard front of the new dustbag into the two grooves of the dustbag holder. Press it down as far as possible. C 6 Pull the dustbag holder forwards (you will hear a click). You cannot close the cover if no dustbag has been inserted. Replacing filters Motor Protection Filter 1 Replace the Motor Protection Filter when you insert the first of a new set of dustbags or once a year. Insert the filter into the appliance with the white side facing upwards. C 2 AFS Micro Filter The AFS Micro Filter in this appliance will remove a large part of the smallest particles from the exhaust air by means of its electrostatically charged fibres. C C 1 Replace the AFS Micro Filter when you insert the first of a new set of dustbags or once a year. 2 3 Place the sides and the bottom edge of the new filter properly behind the ridges of the holder. Make sure the filter has been properly inserted into the holder before you close the filter holder. ENGLISH 9 HEPA Filter (specific types only) Some appliances are equipped with an HEPA Filter.This filter not only removes household dust, but also harmful microscopic vermin. 1 Replace the HEPA Filter at least once a year. Open the filter grille. C C 2 3 Push both catches sideward and remove the filter. C 4 Place the new filter with its white side pointing towards the appliance. Make sure that the Philips logo on the filter is visible and in the upper right-hand corner. C 5 Secure the filter by pushing the catches home and close the filter grille. Ordering dustbags and filters Philips s-bag` paper dustbags are available under type number FC 8021 (service number 4822 480 10113). The recommended dustbags fit a variety of Philips vacuum cleaners. For compact vacuum cleaners like the City Line or the Impact, this means that the dustbags will not be filled to their maximum capacity, as the capacity of the dust compartment is smaller than that of the dustbag. However, this does not prevent your vacuum cleaner from functioning optimally. 10 ENGLISH Two AFS Micro Filters and one Motor Protection Filter are available under type number FC 8032 (service number 4822 015 70056). HEPA Filters are available under type number HR6992 (service number 4822 480 10084). Set the electronic suction power control to a higher setting. To remove the obstruction, disconnect the blocked-up item and connect it (as far as possible) the other way around. Switch the vacuum cleaner on to force the air through the blocked-up item in opposite direction. 12 DEUTSCH Wichtig Verwenden Sie in diesem Gerät ausschließlich den doppelwandigen Philips s-bag` Staubbeutel Type FC8021 oder den doppelwandigen Papierstaubbeutel Type HR6999. Den Schlauch abnehmen: Drehen Sie den Schlauch gegen den Uhrzeigersinn und ziehen Sie ihn aus dem Gerät Konische Verbindung C 1 Die Saugrohre mit dem Griff verbinden: Stecken Sie das engere Ende des einen Rohres mit einer leichten Drehung in des weitere Ende des anderen Rohres. Das Rohr mit dem Haken ist das untere Rohr. Verfahren Sie auf die gleiche Weise, wenn Sie die Zusatzteile mit dem Rohr verbinden. 2 Die Saugrohre abnehmen: Ziehen Sie die Rohre mit einer leichten Drehung gegen den Uhrzeigersinn heraus. Das Teleskoprohr (Nur bestimmte Gerätetypen:) C Stellen Sie das Rohr auf die Länge ein, bei der Sie am bequemsten staubsaugen können. DEUTSCH 13 Die Universaldüse Die Universaldüse lässt sich auf Hartboden und auf textilem Bodenbelag verwenden. 1 Verbinden Sie die Universaldüse mit dem Teleskoprohr. Zum Staubsaugen von Hartböden bedienen Sie mit dem Fuß den Schalter auf der Universaldüse. Dadurch wird die Bürstenleiste ausgefahren. Mit einem weiteren Tritt auf den Schalter wird die Bürste wieder eingefahren. C C 2 3 Fugendüse, Bürstendüse und schmale Düse Mit der Fugendüse können Sie Ecken und schwer erreichbare Stellen staubsaugen. C 1 2 Heben Sie die Klappe am Staubsauger an, um das Zubehörfach zu öffnen und die gewünschten Teile zu entnehmen. Sie können die Fugendüse am Rohr anbringen, aber auch direkt am Griff. Die Bürstendüse kann zum Entstauben von Computern und Bücherregalen verwendet werden. C 3 C 4 Die schmale Düse eignet sich zum Staubsaugen kleiner Flächen, z. B. von Stuhlsitzen und Liegen. 14 DEUTSCH Staubsaugen C 1 Ziehen Sie das Netzkabel aus dem Gerät, und stecken Sie den Netzstecker in die Steckdose. C 2 Schalten Sie das Gerät mit dem Fuß an dem Ein-/Ausschalter oben auf dem Staubsauger ein. C 3 Um das Gerät zu tragen, ziehen Sie den Griff hoch und heben das Gerät an. Einstellen der Saugleistung Sie können die Saugleistung während des Staubsaugens verstellen. Abhängig von dem Modell, das Sie verwenden, verfügen Sie über eine von zwei Möglichkeiten, die Saugleistung zu regulieren. C C 1 Verstellen Sie die Saugleistung an dem Schieber im Griff. 2 (Nur bei entsprechenden Gerätetypen:) Regulieren Sie die Saugleistung mit Hilfe des elektronischen Saugleistungsreglers. DEUTSCH 15 Aufbewahrung 1 2 Schalten Sie das Gerät aus. Ziehen Sie den Netzstecker aus der Steckdose. Drücken Sie mit dem Fuß die Kabelaufwicklertaste. C C 3 4 Stellen Sie das Gerät aufrecht, und setzen Sie den Haken am unteren Rohr in das Gerät ein. Sie können den Haken auf dem Rohr zur besseren Anpasssung verschieben. Wechseln des Staubbeutels Wechseln Sie den Staubbeutel, sobald die Anzeige "Staubbeutel voll" auch dann die Farbe wechselt, wenn die Düse nicht auf dem Boden aufliegt. 1 Schalten Sie das Gerät aus. Öffnen Sie den Gerätedeckel. Schieben Sie den Staubbeutelhalter zurück. C C 2 3 C 4 Ziehen Sie den vollen Staubbeutel an der Kartonplatte heraus. Dabei wird der Staubbeutel automatisch verschlossen. 16 DEUTSCH C 5 Schieben Sie die Kartonplatte des neuen Staubbeutels in die Führungsrillen des Staubbeutelhalters bis zum Anschlag hinein. C Ziehen Sie den Staubbeutelhalter nach vorn, bis er einrastet ("Klick"). Wenn sich der Gerätedeckel nicht verschließen lässt, ist der neue Staubbeutel nicht korrekt eingesetzt. 6 Die Filter auswechseln Motorschutz-Filter 1 Wechseln Sie den Motorschutz-Filter, wenn Sie ein neues Paket Staubbeutel anbrechen, spätestens aber einmal jährlich. Setzen Sie den Filter so in das Gerät, daß die weiße Seite nach oben zeigt. C 2 ASF-Microfilter Der ASF-Microfilter in diesem Gerät beseitigt durch seine elektrostatisch geladenen Fasern einen großen Teil kleinster Partikel aus der Abluft. C C 1 Wechseln Sie den AFS-Microfilter jedesmal, wenn Sie eine neue Packung Staubbeutel anbrechen, spätestens einmal jährlich. 2 3 Setzen Sie die Seiten und den unteren Rand des Filters genau hinter die Führungen auf dem Filterhalter. Achten Sie darauf, dass der Filter korrekt eingesetzt ist, wenn Sie den Filterhalter schließen. DEUTSCH 17 (Nur bestimmte Typen:) Der HEPA-Filter Einige Geräte sind mit dem HEPA Filter ausgestattet. Dieser Filter hält nicht nur feinen Haushaltsstaub zurück, sondern auch mikroskopisch kleine Schädlinge. 1 Wechseln Sie den HEPA Kombi-Filter jährlich oder bei Bedarf. Öffnen Sie den Filterhalter. Drücken Sie die beiden seitlichen Arretierungen, und nehmen Sie den Filter heraus. C C 2 3 C 4 Setzen Sie den neuen Filter so ein, dass die weiße Seite zum Gerät hin zeigt.Achten Sie darauf, dass das Philips-Logo auf dem Filter in der oberen rechten Ecke sichtbar ist.
